The hot summer sun has become more of a danger as years go by and more research is done. We already know that too much exposure to the rays of the sun can cause skin cancer in some. Using sunscreen has been one popular form of protecting your skin and wearing hats is another. If you're going to sport a cap to protect yourself from the sun you'll have a variety of styles of hats to fit your personality.

For those sporty women, there is the standard ball cap. This surrounds the head to above the ears and includes a bill that extends out to protect your eyes and face from the sun. Some don't consider these as effective because the hat will only protect the top of the head and top part of the face. This allows you to protect your head, eyes, and upper part of your face from the sun while still exposing the rest of your body to the sun for that sun-kissed look on your skin.

Another option for women that are athletic would be the visor. This style of hat is very similar to the ball cap. The difference is that the visor includes the bill and a strap of fabric that goes around the head. This type of hat will protect your eyes from the sun and in cases where you may be playing a game such as volleyball, badminton, or tennis, the visor will afford your eyes the protection they need from the sun as you often will look toward the sky in search of the ball.

For those that are not athletic nor want to look so, there are summer sun hats. They may be woven from the pliable neutral material that is so often seen in the summer time. They may be made of cotton. Some may be decorated with flowers, words, or other scenes reminiscent of summer activities. These hats often cover your entire head up to just over your ears and have a large brim that will extend out the entire diameter of the hat.

This type of hat is much more protective than the ball cap or visor as it provides protection from the sun for all sides of the body. For those that have extra large and floppy rims, they may protect as far as your shoulders on the back side and at least the entire face on the front side. This style of hat tends to be more decorative and can usually be matched with outfits being worn.

All hats can be used to protect your eyes and face from the harmful rays of the sun. The style of hat that you choose will reflect your tastes and style. There is a protective hat for every situation and the one you choose should go along with who you are.
